Plaza College would like to provide its communities of interest an update on its process with the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) of the American Dental Association. As anticipated, the College received a visit from the CODA to review its developing Dental Hygiene Program. The visiting team had the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, administration, Board Members and our Program Advisory Board. This visit is a critical component of the accreditation process. The College is in candidacy for programmatic accreditation and remains committed to dental hygiene education. Once accredited and established, the program will focus on preparing students to promote the oral and overall health status of New York City and Borough of Queens communities. Dental Hygiene students will be challenged to think critically, collaborate with peers and faculty, and commit themselves to excellence in patient care and life-long learning in the pursuit of becoming licensed healthcare professionals.
In addition, and although Plaza College has not yet been granted accreditation from CODA, it is also our intention to keep the public apprised of the future Community Dental Clinic. The future students and patients of the program will have access to a brand new, state-of-the-art Community Dental Clinic complete with all the necessary equipment, furniture, and supplies to deliver the highest level of care.
