Health Information Technology (AAS)
The application deadline for the Spring 2018 Dental Hygiene cohort is November 15, 2017. All applications and required materials must be received by the Admissions Department by this date to be considered for admission into the program.
This Associate degree in Applied Science (AAS) program offers a diverse curriculum designed to ready students for a career as a Health Information Technologist, a health care professional specifically trained to support health information systems, manage medical records, and code information for reimbursement and research. The program prepares graduates for a variety of career opportunities in hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, physicians' offices, and many other organizations dealing with patient records.
Health Information Technology is an Associate in Applied Science program consisting of technology and medical courses such as coding and pharmacology. The HIT program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM), allowing our graduates to apply to sit for the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) exam. The five-year graduation cohort rate is 70 percent.
