Medical Externships
The Medical Assisting Program offers a practicum in the last semester of the program, which was developed to help our students make an effective transition from the classroom to the actual job setting. The practicum sites that we have available are in multi-specialty settings and are located in all five boroughs of New York City. In selecting practicum locations, the Coordinator of Career Services and the Medical Assisting Practicum Coordinator will work together with the student to find locations which provide the most practical applications of both their clinical and administrative skills. During the practicum, Medical Assistants deal extensively with the public, which is extremely valuable as employers are very interested in how prospective employees will deal with their patients. The practicum experience is one of the most important tools in the screening process for the potential employer.
