Do you consider yourself particularly proficient at multitasking? Think again. Multitasking is the opposite of proficient; in fact, it negatively affects your productivity. Focusing on one task at a time is the best way to accomplish any given task to the best of your ability. When focusing on more than one thing at a time, we may believe we are being more productive than if we focused on only one thing; however, we are producing work at a lesser quality and developing a lesser understanding of the material we're focusing on.
