NURSING (BS)

Nursing is an integral part of the healthcare system in the United States.  Nurses build relationships with their patients so they may assist them in attaining and maintaining optimal health and wellness.  In New York, there are four nursing professions for which a qualified applicant may apply for licensure.  This program fulfills the educational requirements for the application for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).

Plaza’s 16-month Bachelor of Science in Nursing is designed as an upper-division program whereby students will apply 60 previously-earned credits to 60 core nursing credits to complete the B.S. degree.  Students may gain access to this highly sought-after Upper Division Nursing, B.S. program through one of two tracks:

Direct Entry: Students who already possess a prior degree (Associate or Bachelor) or at least 60 college credits and have taken the following required prerequisite courses may apply for direct entry into the B.S. program:

    • Anatomy and Physiology I with Lab (4 credits)
    • Anatomy and Physiology II with Lab (4 credits)
    • Microbiology with Lab (3 credits)
    • General Chemistry (3 credits)
    • Biochemistry and/or Organic Chemistry with Lab (3 credits)
    • Statistics (3 credits)
    • Social Sciences (6 credits)
    • English and Compositions (9 credits, 3+ at the 300/400 level)

Foundational Entry: First-time college students and those who do not possess a prior degree and/or the required prereqs may apply for acceptance into the Allied Health Science, A.S. program to complete the requirements to qualify to apply to the B.S. program.
