Tinamarie Cabrera
Major: Medical Assisting

G.P.A.: 4.0
What made you want to attend Plaza College? Plaza College is located only 15 minutes from my job, making it very convenient for me to attend. I was looking for a college, and after my interview, I did not have to look any longer.
What were you doing prior to enrolling in Plaza College? Prior to enrolling in Plaza College, I was and currently still am working full-time and am a mother of two.
Biggest obstacle you have had to overcome while being at Plaza College: The biggest obstacle I had to overcome was writing. I was always a poor writer when it came to reports and essays. Completing my portfolio for LL254 (Composition and Research) helped me become a stronger writer. Thanks to the help of Professor McCann, I learned to write better and enjoy doing it.
Funniest thing that happened to you at Plaza: On the day of my Anatomy presentation, my friend and I were wearing the same shirt!
How have you managed to keep such a high G.P.A.: I managed to keep a 4.0 by coming to all my scheduled classes, studying, and asking questions when I did not understand something.
How do you spend your spare time away from Plaza College? Hobbies or interests? When I am not at Plaza College, I am working or spending time with my kids most of the time. Some of my hobbies are shopping (like most women), taking my kids out, going out to eat, and hanging out with my family and friends.
Advice for new students to Plaza: Do not give up – no matter how hard it may seem, and you will succeed. Remember that life in general is hard, and you are not going to give up on life, so do not give up on your education.
Most important goal in life right now: My most important goal right now is to graduate from Plaza College and proceed with my career in the medical field.
Finish this sentence: To me, Plaza College is: one of the best choices I have made in my life. I have accomplished so much and learned that I should never be doubtful when it comes to myself.
What a former professor has to say about her: “Students influence teachers, too. I was new at Plaza College when Tinamarie Cabrera appeared in my LL60 class. She was quiet, purposeful, and always had a twinkle in her eye. When I told the class my job was to "set the bar, then raise it", Ms. Cabrera began raising the bar she set for herself. This is a fine example for everyone to follow!” Professor Lynn McCann
