Biggest obstacle you have had to overcome while being at Plaza College: The biggest obstacle is writing in English. I struggle with the grammar and a fear of rejection. To overcome my fears, I receive help from my English professor Ms. Welsh, and all the helpful staff in the Learning Resources Center. The professors at Plaza who believe in me are the most effective way to build my confidence.
Most rewarding experience at Plaza: Being inducted into the English Honor Society, Sigma Kappa Delta, in October 2009. I also received Certificates of Honor in winter 2009 and Fall 2008.
The key to your success at Plaza so far: There is no magic. If you work hard and try your best, I’m sure all the hard work will pay off at the end.
How do you spend your spare time away from Plaza College? Hobbies or interests? I cook, do schoolwork, and find time to sleep. I love going to Broadway shows; I have to thank Prof. Howle who introduced me to this new hobby, in my Modern Drama course.
Most important goal in life right now: The biggest goal right now is to finish my Associate Degree Program. After graduating, I hope to see myself in Bachelor’s Degree Program.
What would you say to students who are considering attending Plaza? You will not regret your college experience at Plaza. You will gain an immense amount of knowledge of Microsoft Office, and complete challenging projects in courses like Literary Analysis and Business Concepts.
Finish this sentence: To me, Plaza College is: a place I want to call home.
What Tyng Hoi’s former professor has to say about her: “Kung Fu Tea! Wait - before you picture the cups and saucers fighting, let me tell you that was the subject of Tyng Hoi's speech in LL254. She did an unusual and fascinating presentation about Chinese tea and the utensils used to properly make and serve tea. She isn't a native speaker of English, but she revised her LL254 portfolio project about tea and received an excellent grade. In LL290, Tyng exhibited the same will to win, and kept working on papers and her portfolio project. Her drive and her willingness to revise and improve her work (even when she is tired!) make her a great example of a successful student.” Professor Margaret Welsh
