Plaza College’s Women’s History Month Celebration is off to a dynamic start with a combination of fundraising and fun! On March 1, the college’s annual bake sale for domestic violence victims raised $1,000 thanks to the donations and support of students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the Callahan family.
Dozens of volunteers contributed hot foods, desserts, drinks, and other delicious treats for purchase on the Commons while others donated their time to serve food and collect donations. Much thanks to everyone who donated time, food, or money! All proceeds go directly to support the efforts of Safe Horizon.
Last week the excitement continued with a Women’s History Month trivia contest. Sponsored by English honor society Sigma Tau Delta, the game tested competitors’ knowledge of successful women throughout history as well as important moments for women’s rights.
Questions were designed by Sigma Tau Delta secretary Joanna Morris, who hosted the game with assistance from president Alejandro Leston and vice president George Fielack. After an exciting game, the prize went to student Genevieve Cannon, who received a $20 gift certificate to the campus café. Thank you to all who attended!
