This Associate degree in Applied Science (AAS) program offers a diverse curriculum designed to ready students for a career as a Health Information Technologist, a health care professional specifically trained to support health information systems, manage medical records, and code information for reimbursement and research. The program prepares graduates for a variety of career opportunities in hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, physicians' offices, and many other organizations dealing with patient records.
Health Information Technology is an Associate in Applied Science program consisting of electronic health records management, patient privacy and best legal practices, data analytics, quality improvement, and coding and revenue cycle management.
The program is offered in two formats:
Fully Online: All courses – both general education and core program – are offered online. The only in-person requirement is your on-site externship experience in the final semester of the program.
Hybrid: All liberal arts and elective courses are offered on-campus. All core
program courses are offered online.

The HIT program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM), allowing our graduates to apply to sit for the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) exam. During the academic year 2016-2017, the student cohort retention/attrition rate reported for Health Information Technology is 92.3%/7.7%; the graduation rate, 87.5%; and the job placement rate of graduates in their field of study, 100%.
