MEDICAL ASSISTING, A.A.S.

Plaza’s Medical Assisting (AAS) degree program is designed to provide students with strong clinical and administrative skills to be able to handle both front and back medical office assignments, working with patients, doctors, medical records, and much more.



What Do Medical Assistants Do?

  • Draw Blood
  • Administer EKGs
  • Take Vital Signs and Perform CLIA Waiver Tests
  • Enter Patient Information in the Official Medical Record
  • Prepare Patients for and Assist Doctors with Exams and Procedures
  • Provide Administrative Support through Patient Scheduling, Billing and Coding, and Office Management

All Plaza College graduates are Registered Medical Assistants, an advanced national credential sought after by hiring managers.

The Medical Assisting Program includes an in-field externship, where students get placed at a healthcare organization to gain practical hands-on experience working with doctors to treat patients.
