Assistant Dean Marisa Fordunski becomes director of new Faculty Resources Center

By Dean Marie Dolla and Professor Jonathan Howle

Plaza College realizes that an expert faculty is paramount in providing a quality education to its students. The strong selection process ensures that only the most talented and prepared faculty members are recruited. Over the years, Plaza’s deans, through committees, have provided professional development opportunities through seminars, workshops, roundtable discussions, webinars, mentoring, orientations, and professional memberships.

Nevertheless, as the college continues to grow rapidly and the number of faculty members approaches 70, it has become time to centralize these services in the form of the new Faculty Resources Center. Following some construction and remodeling over the next few weeks, the FRC will be located on the second floor near the Faculty Advisement Center and the Records Room.

Recently, Assistant Dean Marisa Fordunski was promoted to be the Director of the Center. Together with the deans and subject matter experts, Mrs. Fordunski will provide instructors with further training, workshops, and resources (both print and online) that enrich classroom delivery and techniques to assess student learning. Mrs. Fordunski will also serve as a liaison to the faculty and create workshops that meet any of their specific requests. Furthermore, as Mrs. Fordunski explains, “the Center will also be committed to promoting faculty and staff collegiality.”

“Mrs. Fordunski has worked really hard and is ready. She has the talent and the skills to move the Center forward,” Dean Dolla remarked.

Mrs. Fordunski is filled with great enthusiasm and passion for this new chapter in her career at Plaza College. In an understatement, she said, “My year is certainly off to a good start.”
