Plaza College’s 94th  Commencement was held on Friday June 17, 2011. This year, approximately 183 students graduated with their Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees.

For the 2nd year in a row, the ceremony was held at Queens College, in the Kupferburg Center (Colden Auditorium). Dr. Edward Dee and Director Dawn Vetrano led the planning efforts to great acclaim. For the second year in a row, their incredible organization and diligence resulted in a ceremony that was at once efficient, meticulously organized, and full of heart and deep emotion for all in attendance.

One of the great highlights of the day was the student address, which made history this year. For the first time in their 94-year history, Plaza College saw a father and son, Andres and Matthew LaSalle, graduate together. They delivered the student address together as well. This attracted the attention of the media, including The Queens Courier, who interviewed the two of them at the Graduate Award Ceremony. Andres LaSalle told Michael Pantelidis, a reporter for The Queens Courier, that “by studying all those late nights, we made a bond with each other. It brought us closer together.”
