Alijami Hodge
2nd Semester, BBA Program
Interview by Daisy Hernandez
What is your major?
My major is Business Administration.
What were you doing prior to Plaza?
Before Plaza, I was working at my current job, doing full-time.
What is your first memory of Plaza?
My first memory of Plaza College was when I first came in to sign up. I thought the process would take a long time, but after just one day of speaking to an admissions representative, I was prepared to start my associate’s the following day.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you at Plaza?
The funniest thing that occurred to me while attending Plaza College was when I got to school bright and early on a snow day when school was closed. This is just a reminder of how important it is to check your e-mail.
What are some of your hobbies and interests?
I enjoy playing and watching football, working out, and conversing with various friends and family. I also enjoy eating, listening to music and every once in a while, dancing.
Where do you see yourself going after you graduate?
After I graduate Plaza College with my BBA I see myself going for my master’s degree in probably a teaching major or in a nonprofit business major.
If you could trade places with any other teacher or faculty from Plaza for a week, who would it be?
I would trade places with any one of my current professors so I could give AJ Hodge an A.
What are the advantages of Plaza?
Some advantages of Plaza College are the small classes. Teachers and faculty are more attentive to students; help can be provided when needed. Plaza also understands that people have personal and difficult problems at times. The college is always understanding of these problems and is willing to do anything in their power to help. You are not just a number here at Plaza.
If someone wrote a biography of you, what do you think the title should be?
Life is a Book of Chapters. I would name it this because throughout our lives we go though plenty of ups and downs. In order to maintain our psychological well-being, it is important to understand and believe that this moment in time is just one chapter. We will have plenty more to come. Just because chapter one was horrible and painful does not mean that chapter four will be the same. I believe that optimism is the key to not only success but to happiness.
Professor Jonathan Howle on Alijami Hodge
“A.J. Hodge is a young man whose potential and talents are unlimited. One minute, he can analyze concepts in business and accounting, and the next minute, he is earning an ‘A’ on his English portfolio on Universal Health Care. However, it was on the night of the earthquake in Haiti, when he revealed his truest colors. I received an email from him, not long after the disaster. With great passion and concern, he convinced me that Plaza should have a Haiti Relief Initiative. We did, and we raised $3000. It all began with A.J.’s email. I am forever grateful to him.”
