Interview by Tyng Hoi

What is your major?
Medical Assisting

Why did you decide to attend Plaza College?
I decided to attend to Plaza College to further my education. I wanted to better myself. These days, a high school diploma is not enough to get where I want to be.

What were you doing, prior to enrolling in Plaza College?
Before enrolling in Plaza, I was working as a babysitter.

What is the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome at Plaza so far?
So far, the biggest obstacle that I had to overcome at Plaza was working on my English portfolio (LL254). I spent a lot of time doing research, reading, and writing, I had to work hard, but in the end, it was all worth it.

What is your first memory of Plaza College?
My first memory of Plaza was the day I registered. The people in Admissions were very nice and helpful.

What has been your most rewarding experience at Plaza so far?
My most rewarding experience at Plaza so far has been learning that I am capable of earning good grades.

What is the secret to your success here at Plaza?
I try to do my school work as soon as possible, and when I am not sure about something, I always ask for help.

Outside Plaza, what activities or hobbies do you enjoy?
I enjoy cooking, outdoor sports (biking and rollerblading), and going to the beach.

What advice can you give new students to Plaza?
The best advice that I can give to new students is not to procrastinate and do your own work.

What is your biggest goal right now?
My biggest goal right now is to graduate and get a job. After I accomplish this goal, I would like to continue my studies.

Professor Lynn McManus on Maureen Madrigal
“At first, she was very quiet and insecure. Then, she started to bloom like a flower. She gained confidence; her grades improved. She has a real talent for communicating and dealing with people. She is very kind and gentle, and she uses that to her benefit. The saying ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ comes to mind with her. At first she didn’t believe in herself, and now – there’s no stopping her. I think she can go as far as she desires in the medical profession.”

Professor Margaret Welsh on Maureen Madrigal
“Maureen did an excellent, well-researched LL254 portfolio. The time she invested in multiple drafts really paid off. Her willingness to revise made her a pleasure to teach.”
