As Seasons Change, Plaza Students Are Invited to Design and Write for Online Publication

By Seasons staff

Three Plaza College students were recently invited to edit, design, and contribute articles to the college’s online magazine Seasons, which, by the way, you are currently reading.

The Lion King The staff of Seasons is already discussing the fall edition.

Roberto Valle Mojica, Daisy Hernandez, and Tyng Hoi are the first students to work for the publication. Director of Alumni Relations, Jonathan Howle, invited the students to participate. Mr. Valle Mojica and Ms. Hernandez serve as co-editors, while Ms. Hoi serves as Art Director.

Mr. Valle Mojica and Ms. Hoi are studying Accounting and Information Systems; Mr. Valle Mojica is in his third semester, while Ms. Hoi is in her final semester and plans to enroll in the BBA program in the fall. Ms. Hernandez is currently in her second semester of the BBA program.

Seasons is one of my dream projects in my position as Director of Alumni Relations, and I want to continue to make it more important and relevant to all the students, staff, and alumni of Plaza College. In order to do that, I needed to expand the scope of our publication, which meant building a highly effective team of writers and designers. This initial group has been amazing,” Mr. Howle said.

Mr. Mojica and Ms. Hernandez have written the bulk of the articles, while Ms. Hoi has utilized her background in design, computers, and photography.

All three students have been enjoyed the experience so far.

“When Mr. Howle asked me if I would be interested in writing for Seasons, I was excited to get an opportunity to showcase how much my writing has improved over the past few semesters,” Mr. Mojica said.

Ms. Hernandez added, “I feel honored and blessed. I’ve made new friends, and I have learned a lot. I learned that I have more in common with my fellow classmates than I thought.”

Ms. Hoi agreed and stressed the importance of teamwork on a publication such as an online campus magazine. “I feel great participating in the school magazine. I have had a wonderful time working with Professor Howle, Daisy, and Robert. We work as a team. We respect and listen to each other’s ideas and opinions.”

Both Mr. Valle Mojica and Ms. Hernandez have great plans for the future of Seasons.

“Plaza is full of great students, and I just want them to be acknowledged for their hard work and to let them know that their efforts do not go unnoticed,” Mr. Valle Mojica said.

Ms. Hernandez agrees about the future of Seasons. She wants to write more about the variety of talents that the students of Plaza possess. Mr. Valle Mojica also aspires to display articles written by freshmen writers, who are excelling in English; in addition, he would like to write more Alumni success stories.

With confidence, Ms. Hoi asserted, “I’m sure we will have much more to bring to the next Seasons.

In fact, the staff of Seasons is looking to expand once more; maybe the next issue will include you! If you love to write and/or have an interest in photography, graphics, computers, or design, please contact one of the following people:
