Plaza College: Campus

WINTER 2011

The Campus

From Her Point-Of-View

Interview by Daisy Hernandez

Fun facts about members of the Plaza community

Christopher Noria (Student): Christopher might seem like a sweet and gentle type of guy, but did you know that he is a BMX rider and has been practicing this sport for 4 years. Check out his stunts in this mini clip. --àhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tI3y9upL3o  Who knew he was such a dare devil?

Mr. Khon (Professor): Is anyone familiar with Judge Judy? Well, who would have thought that Mr. Kohn- our history teacher - held 3 cases in front of her and was a lawyer for 27 years prior to Plaza? By the way, he says she is more intimidating in person than on T.V.

Mr. Hartley (Professor): Imagine going on Jeopardy and getting close to winning.  Well… Mr. Hartley actually experienced that moment. Unfortunately, he left the game show empty-handed but carries with him the excitement he felt while being on the show.

Dressing for Success

Getting dressed for Plaza is a lot different than getting dressed for a regular day. As opposed to when you’re dressing to go out with your buddies, the goal of the dress code is to blend in with what everyone else in your profession is wearing, whether it is in the business or medical field. It is not so much about your personal style; it is about representing your profession in a positive manner.

Still have no idea of what to wear? Well, then, this article should be printed out and kept handy. This article will beat the heck out of thinking what to wear, and you will always look fabulous and professional at Plaza.

Ladies… Dress wear shouldn’t be so boring. You can take your typical dress pants and button shirt and make it professional with a few fun accessories at a budget price. This will make you look professional but with an edge. For example, you can take your typical black dressy pants ( a pair everyone already owns ) and pair them with a saturated color blouse, add a bangle, pair of heels, and you are good to go. Something as simple as the outfit below would be easy to put together while looking trendy. The best part of this is that the complete look just looks pricy; however, the whole outfit is under $60.

Men… Business suits have been around for over 100 years, and the style has not changed much. Any women at Plaza would tell you that a man looks powerful in a suit. Luckily for men, dress pants, a button shirt, and a tie would do just fine. However, you should build up a balanced wardrobe. This will help in the long run and save you lots of money. Keep essentials in your closet and if you are having a hard time doing that here is a tip on how to construct a balanced wardrobe.

 Build around the following:

Suits

• Navy Solid Suit
• Charcoal Gray Solid Suit
• Navy Pin Strike or Chalk Stripe Suit
• Charcoal Gray Pin Strip or Chalk Stripe   Suit

Neckwear

• Regimental Striped Ties
• Medallion Patterned Ties

Shirts

• White Shirts
• Blue Shirts

Footwear

• Black Cap Toe Lace Up Shoes
• Brown Split-Toe Lace Up Shoes

And if you want to make your style more interesting- play up a tie. Try to avoid buying the same color ties over and over again. To look interesting, you need variety. You may own a few ties, but if you have a variety of colors, you can look fresh every day of the week. You can also accessorize your outfit with the right belt, shoes, and tie. My advice is to fill your wardrobe with several ties of various colors and styles to create fresh looks.
